The Process

At Tender Beginnings, your care actually starts before the baby arrives! As our client, you will receive our exclusive Postpartum Plan Worksheet to begin to think about your postpartum needs.

You will be assigned two to three doulas, depending on the amount of hours you anticipate needing. Your doulas will meet with you prenatally to go over your Postpartum Plan, answer your questions and help you set up your home and nursery to welcome your new baby home.

Your doulas take on a limited number of postpartum contracts each month so that they can be available and on-call to welcome you home on that first or second night, and stay overnight to help you recover.

Your doulas will provide day or night support, or both as needed, throughout the first year, walking you through each major milestone and transition.

When needed, Tender Beginnings can also send an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant for in- home lactation care.

Jenn and Kacey are absolutely amazing. Even though I planned an unmedicated birth, hours of back labor had me considering a c-section just to end the pain. Jenn and Kacey, however, were able to coach me through the contractions, and after 36 hours of labor, I made it to the epidural stage. They continued coaching me from there, and I was able to have the VBAC I so badly wanted. I recommend the doulas from Tender Beginnings to anyone having a baby, whether it’s their first or their tenth, whether they want medication or not. Jenn and Kacey allowed me to keep to my birthing plan as much as possible, and I am truly grateful to them.

Kate and Kacey are the best. We just had our first baby 8 weeks ago. It was important to me to feel confident in my pregnancy and labor and it was wonderful to have both Kate and Kacey as resources. Kate was there for my labor and met us at the hospital when my water broke. I loved hearing her voice... it helped me stay positive feel like I was in control. She had a comforting touch that wasn’t annoying, but instead helpful, and my husband never felt that she was “in the way”. She was supportive when my labor didn’t go quite as planned and I needed a C section. My OB/GYN still comments at every postpartum appointment that Kate was a great doula. After we went home from the hospital Kacey came over for a postpartum visit and helped me develop a plan for breastfeeding and pumping when I went back to work. She is very knowledgeable and relaxed and I felt more confident and organized after the meeting. It’s great to know I have them there for questions still. Overall Having a doula made me feel like my husband and I were part of the baby birthing dream team because they brought so much knowledge, positivity, support and calming presence to the whole experience. Thank you for everything!
